Petite come from French and it literally means in English little or small. But what does Petite size mean in fashion? Regular sized feminine clothes are designed for a woman about 165cm tall and will not fit properly or look good on a significantly shorter woman. This is why a petit size was created in fashion and clothing industry. It is specially designed to fit women of shorter height, typically 152 cm. The term “petite” only indicates the height of the person, not their weight, or shape, or any other size matters. Not all petites come in the skinny figures.
